The Board of Science & Technology will conduct an NC Green Business Fund grant workshop at Cape Fear Community College North Campus Auditorium in Wilmington on December 1st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The purpose of the workshop is to provide information on the NC Green Business Fund, how to apply for an NC Green Business Fund award, and information on writing an NC Green Business Fund proposal. The event is sponsored by the Cape Fear Community College Small Business Center and will feature presentations by the Small Business Technology Development Center from UNC-Wilmington and the Southeastern NC Biotechnology Center. Gov. Easley Announces Small Business Grant Programs Accepting Applications
One North Carolina Small Business Program Provides Funds For Innovative Entrepreneurs
Gov. Mike Easley announced today that the state Board of Science and Technology has started accepting applications for One North Carolina Small Business Program funds for fiscal year 2008-09. The program provides grants to small businesses that are conducting innovative research and developing technology to bring new products to the marketplace.

NC Green Business Fund
Encouraging the development of promising green technologies
Established by the N.C. General Assembly in 2007, the N.C. Green Business Fund is a competitive grant program that encourages the development and commercialization of promising "green" technologies across North Carolina.
Green Business: A "green" business is a practical and powerful way to help create and renew North Carolina's economy and natural resources. "Green" businesses operate in ways that improve our environment, economy and quality of life.

FY2007-2008 Solicitation: The inaugural Green Business Fund Solicitation for FY2007-2008 received 85 applications for funding, and granted 13 awards.
Applying: Four groups are eligible to apply for funding, depending on the level of program funding. In 2008, grants were awarded to small for-profit businesses, typically employing fewer than 10 people. Potentially eligible groups include: small for-profit businesses, non-profit organizations, state agencies, and local governments.
