Appalachian State University staff and national experts have teamed up to bring you the most up-to-date technologies in the building science and renewable energy fields. North Carolina Energy Efficiency Alliance

The North Carolina Energy Efficiency Alliance (NCEEA) seeks to increase the number of energy efficient homes built in the state.  The organization aims to benefit the key members of the new home-buying industry in such a way as to overcome market barriers for stakeholders like the appraisal, realtor and lending institutions. Weatherization and Indoor Environmental Quality

Program Staff: The Energy Center Staff and the Department of Technology and Environmental Design have launched a project to study energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality in weatherized homes throughout North Carolina. ASU researchers have teamed up with WAMY to install real-time air sampling monitors in houses, before and after weatherization. These monitors measure changes in pollutant and particulate levels in homes after under-going heating system improvements and envelope revamping. Testing will be on-going throughout the winter months.

Affordable Passive Solar Planbook

The Affordable Passive Solar Planbook for North Carolina describes the basic fundamentals and components of passive solar design. A collection of passive solar floor plans suited for virtually any location are also included in this book. In addition to passive solar design elements, the plans contain a variety of energy efficient details. Small Wind Research and Demonstration Site

The Small Wind Research and Demonstration Site is a unique program to give first-hand experience with wind power technology. This facility is open to the public to see and hear wind turbines in operation. Tours and workshops are hosted at the facility, which is maintained by ASU students, faculty, and staff. CommunityTIES Landfill Gas Project

The CommunityTIES Project is a partnership program operated by the Energy Center at Appalachian State University that assists communities throughout North Carolina with development of valuable local energy resources - specifically renewable energy in the form of landfill gas - in economically constructive ways.
