Green Guidelines & Certifications for Homes
Description:
This day long workshop will explore the various green building certification programs and standards. It will focus on the planning and design of high performance homes, the process to obtain certification, and feature a guided tour of completed green buildings highlighting applications and strategies.
The workshop will address the following rating systems: ENERGY STAR v3, LEED for Homes, NAHB Green, and Green Built NC (formerly known as NC Healthy Built Homes), and Passive House. Participants will gain essential knowledge of the value of these certifications, including credit intents, key design elements, financial advantages, barriers and how to overcome them, and current events and trends in the residential industry.
Cost: $250 (lunch included)

A proliferation of standards, rating, and green building certification programs now exist in the marketplace to help guide and document efforts to build more sustainable, high-performance buildings. It can be challenging and time consuming to determine which programs are credible and beneficial. This workshop will introduce you to the most widely recognized certification programs and provide an overview of building science standards and applications. |
