Introduction to Photovoltaic System Design & Construction
Description:
This 40-hour workshop will introduce participants to the basic concepts, tools, techniques and materials needed to design and construct both battery-based and grid-direct photovoltaic systems. The course will focus on the key competencies addressed in the NABCEP Entry level PV exam and will include the fee for the test. Participants will have up to 6 months to take the test at a Castle Worldwide testing company, at one of these locations: Apex, Boone, Cary, Charlotte, Cullowhee, Durham, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Hudson, Morrisville, Raleigh, or Wilmington. Upon passing, you will receive the NABCEP Entry Level Certification.
The NABCEP PV Entry Level Program is designed for individuals wanting to get into the solar field, and is a way to demonstrate achievement of a basic knowledge of the fundamental principles of the application, design, installation and operation of grid-tied and stand-alone PV Systems.

Location: Appalachian State University Campus, College of Education Building-Room 301 (151 College Street), park at parking deck, parking and traffic will have an officer at the deck with a class roster and will issue you a parking pass at no cost-see map below
Time: 8:30am-5:00pm
Continuing Education Credits Offered: 24 hours for the NCBEEC
All attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion

J.R. Whitley is a NABCEP Certified PV installer and a NC licensed electrician who has been working in the solar industry since graduating from Appalachian State University's Appropriate Technology program in 2006. He has been involved in all aspects of PV system design, installation, and maintenance. He currently owns 690 Electric and is an instructor for Solar Energy International. Max Isaacs is a NABCEP Certified Solar PV Installer and a NC licensed electrical contractor. He has served in all aspects of PV operations including design, commissioning, and troubleshooting. He is responsible for over two hundred solar installations and currently works as a Project Engineer.
