Sustainable Energy Speaker Series- North Carolina's Clean Energy Industry: Status and Prospects
North Carolina's Clean Energy Industry: Status and Prospects
The North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA) is a non-profit member organization based in Raleigh, NC. Its mission is to “drive policy and market development to create clean energy jobs, economic opportunities and affordable energy that benefits all of North Carolina.” To achieve this mission, the NCSEA works to build strategic relationships, provide clean energy advocacy, and offer research-based evidence regarding clean energy trends, including its annual North Carolina Clean Energy Industry Census reports. In this presentation, NCSEA Manager of Energy Research Robin Aldina will highlight findings from the most recent Clean Energy Census; provide updates on the current status of the North Carolina solar market, including customer-owned solar; and discuss two current projects underway focused on community-level solar developments.
Robin is the Manager of Energy Research at the NC Sustainable Energy Association, where he leads the Market Intelligence team in the design and implementation of market research, data analysis, and report preparation related to the clean energy industry in North Carolina and the Southeast. He is a frequent speaker at meetings and conferences and leads many of NCSEA’s client-facing projects and collaborative research. Prior to joining NCSEA, Robin worked as an analyst for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, RTI International, and Duke University. He earned a Master of Environmental Management degree with a concentration in Energy and the Environment from the Nicholas School at Duke University. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Richmond.
*Attendance will be kept for faculty offering extra credit for students.*
In conjunction with this presentation, the Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment will host an information discussion with Robin Aldina about ideas for renewable energy research collaborations and initiatives. This will be held from 2:00 – 3:30 pm on April 24 in Room 30 Katherine Harper Hall. This meeting is open to all.
The Sustainable Energy Speaker Series is sponsored by Appalachian Energy Center and the Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment. Look for more speakers to be announced here!
