Note: This course is being resubmitted to the NCBEEC and NCDOI to update content to the 2020 NEC and has required the date to be changed to October 16. The 2020 NEC goes into effect October 1, 2021 in NC.

Description:

The National Electrical Code® drives industry-wide best practices as well as product development cycles of manufacturers, so whether you’re an installer, designer, manufacturer, engineer, developer, or building official, it’s critical to stay on top of the game. This course walks through the 2020 NEC® focusing on Chapters 6 and Chapter 7, and including relevant parts of Chapters 1 through 4. The focus is on critical updates, changes, and relevant details that impact PV system design and installation, for applications ranging from battery-based off-grid and all types of energy storage systems, to interactive PV systems of all sizes up to utility-scale solar farms.

Instructor:

Thomas HoneyThomas Honey is a U.S. Navy veteran with over 30 years’ experience in the fields of electrical & electronic technology. He founded Honey Electric Solar, Inc. (HES) in 1994, where under his guidance HES professionally installed and maintained hundreds of Solar Hot Water, Solar Pool Heating, and Photovoltaics systems in PA, NC, and VA. Currently, his focus is to maintain and service existing PV systems, while providing technical guidance to other PV installation companies. He holds Electrical Contracting Licenses in NC and VA, and is a NABCEP certified PV Installation Professional. As an Adjunct Professor within the North Carolina Community College System he’s taught Introductory and Advanced PV design & installation courses, Commercial Electrical Wiring courses (conduit bending), and ConEd classes about the National Electrical Code. Thomas is also an instructor for Solar Energy International.SEI
