Please note this workshop will be held in Kernersville, NC. The same workshop will also be offered at the main campus of Appalachian State University in Boone on October 5.
Driving design and installation standards on a national scale, the National Electrical Code® (NEC) is intended to be an inclusive and evolving benchmark in electrical design, installation, and inspection. Yet in the rapidly changing industry of solar energy, NEC’s standards are a combination of proactive and reactive mandates and best practices. Understanding the critical NEC concepts for photovoltaic and storage systems is increasingly essential if you’re an installer, designer, manufacturer, engineer, developer, or building official. This course highlights relevant sections of the 2020 NEC® including Chapters 6 and Chapter 7 as well as some key PV-focused topics in other chapters. This course curriculum will cover critical updates, changes, and relevant details that impact PV system design and installation, applicable to a wide spectrum of scenarios ranging from battery-based off-grid to interactive PV systems of all sizes, including utility-scale solar farms. Finally, the course will provide brief insight into the 2023 NEC and implications regarding PV and storage systems.
